Olskroken is one of the country's busiest railway junctions. A conversion to grade-separated railway tracks is necessary to increase accessibility and operational reliability for all train traffic to and from Gothenburg.
The Swedish Transport Administration is the client, Peab is the contractor and Atritechar has been brought into the project to measure the free space on site to ensure that the project is built according to current requirements.
The project involves the construction of new tracks to separate freight traffic from passenger traffic. A reconstruction in Olskroken so that the railway tracks cross each other at different levels will increase capacity and increase accessibility and operational safety for all train traffic to and from the connecting tracks. The contract extends over an area of approximately two kilometers and involves the construction of tracks, bridges and other buildings for both passenger and freight trains in a complex and heavily trafficked track environment.
Atritec was commissioned to carry out a Formula (obstacle-free) measurement to specifically investigate the position of two bridge foundations in relation to the tracks. The bridge foundations were under construction and thanks to Atritec's measurement, it was ensured that the bridge foundations would not restrict the free space of the tracks even before completion. In this way, a costly re-design and reconstruction could be avoided.
